Acne Scars (Restylane)

Restylane, a soft tissue filler, can be used to fill in mild acne scarring pockets resulting in a smoother appearance. The Williams Rejuva Center's (in Latham just 5 minutes outside of Albany ) cosmetic nurse specialist would perform this treatment for you. Restylane is a injectable gel containing hyaluronic acid that plumps out these areas. No testing prior to the cosmetic enhancement is needed because hyaluronic acid is found naturally in body. Depending on the amount of acne scars to be filled on your face, the procedure could take approximately 45 minutes. Topical numbing cream can be applied first to the areas being treated with Restylane. There is a risk of bruising and swelling with any injections. Typically we would like to re check the area treated with Restylane in approximately one week. For deeper acne scaring treatments and facial resurfacing a cosmetic consultation with Dr. Edwin Williams is required to discuss chemical peels, dermabrassion and/or laser correction with a CO2 laser (combine techniques) may be recommended.
