To view before and after pictures of the Contour Threadlift click here This revolutionary technique of minimally invasive facial rejuvenation was first developed in 1996 by the Russian surgeon and scientist, Marlin Sulamanidze. He worked together with his son Dr. Georges Sulamanidze to finally perfect a non-surgical facial rejuvenation utilizing special micro ligaments (sutures). The micro ligament that are used to lift the tissue are made of polypropylene, a suture material used for many years in the field of surgery. Each micro ligament has multiple cogs that are spaced evenly. The micro ligaments are introduced under the skin with a special needle rather than using a conventional incision. Once under the skin these micro ligaments anchor the tissues and create a gentle lift of the face and brow. Once in position, your body will generate new collagen fibers around the threads thus maintaining the lift effect. The entire face and neck can be lifted in about 30 minutes under a local anesthetic or with mild intravenous sedation. There is minimal discomfort or bruising and most patients can return to work within 1 or 2 days. Ice compresses are recommended in the first 48 hours to help minimize bruising. The desired lifting effect can be achieved with only one thread lift procedure. How long the lifting effect will last depends on the patient's age, the degree of sagging and the number of threads used. The thread lifting procedure is entirely reversible under local anesthesia with minimal side effects or complications.
