Breast Lift and Augmentation

The Breast Lift with an implant (Sculpted Augmented Lift). Is a combination of a Breast Augmentation and a Breast Lift. The goal is to create a pleasing shape (the look with the implant) and to have fullness at the upper part of the breast with nice cleavage. The breast should be able to support itself and have no need for a bra.

Candidates for a sculpted augmented lift should be physically healthy and realistic in their expectations. A Sculpted Augmented Lift may be performed in a surgeons office-based facility or an outpatient surgery center. Dr. Polynice, a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon preforms this cosmetic procedure as  out-patient surgery at The New England Laser and Cosmetic Surgery Center. This Cosmetic procedure can be done under either local anesthesia and sedation or with general anesthesia. The procedure itself typically takes about two hours to perform, along with an additional two hours spent in recovery. The breast implant may be placed either underneath the breast tissue itself or underneath the pectoral muscle. The implants are then centered beneath the nipples and the incisions are sutured closed. If necessary, the size of the areola may need to be reduced and there is a short T shaped scar referred to as the "Lollipop Scar".

Surgery patients can expect to experience some discomfort. It's generally recommended that patients take prescription pain medication to help control this discomfort. The breasts will be bandaged for the first two or three days, after which a support bra or sports bra should be worn for about four weeks. Patients should avoid wearing push-up or underwire bras during this time. Daily breast massage is recommended during recovery. Though the breasts will appear unusually high in the first few weeks after surgery they will eventually settle into place once the swelling has resolved. Bruising and swelling can occur, and will usually resolve within two to three weeks.

All of Dr.Polynice's sutures are internal and dissolve on their own. There are never any sutures to remove which makes for a nicer scar.  Most patients are able to return to work and other normal activities within a few days, though strenuous physical activity and exercise should be avoided for four weeks.

The potential complications associated with breast lift with augmentation are as follows: adverse anesthesia reactions, bleeding, capsular contracture, changes in nipple or breast sensation, implant deflation or rupture, infection. These can be discussed in detail at the time of your consultation.
