Dr. Edwin Williams has several patients who have BOTOX®  Cosmetic to treat the depressor angluli oris muscle. This muscle that pulls the corners of the mouth down, giving the patient a constant frowning appearance and increasing the appearance of marionette lines. These are the lines evident from the corners of the mouth to the chin area.

When the depressor angluli oris is treated with BOTOX®  Cosmetic, it relaxes the muscle, allowing the levitor angluli oris muscle to raise the corners of the mouth, giving the patient a more pleasant appearance. This treatment, in combination with a soft tissue filler such as Restylane or Radiesse, is very effective in eliminating the marionette lines.
