As we age, the skin on our neck area loses elasticity which can cause the muscles running from under the chin down the neck to become very visible. This is called platysmal banding and is caused when the vertical muscles located in your neck are over active. This becomes increasingly prominent with continuing loss of elasticity in the neck.
