BOTOX® Cosmetic - Wrinkles Across the Chin

Some patients develop a deep facial line or horizontal fold between the lower lip and the chin called the mental crease. This is caused by over activity in the mentalis muscle.  Over activity in the mentalis muscle can also cause dimpling in the chin called “peau de orange” because it resembles an orange peel.

Dr. Edwin F. Williams, a Board Certified Facial Plastic Surgeon, and The Williams Rejuva Center Cosmetic Nurse Specialists can treat this area by using a very small amount of BOTOX® Cosmetic. The BOTOX®  Cosmetic relaxes the mentalis muscle softening the mental crease and eliminating dimpling of the chin. If the line formed has become to deep for Botox alone to soften and eliminate it, Dr. Williams recomends the addition of a soft tissue filler such as Juvederm or Restylane.
