For many women eyelashes are a never ending beauty battle, and with a market flooded with options for improving the appearance of eyelashes, it makes it even more difficult to figure out what works and what doesn't.

Allergan, the makers of BOTOX Cosmetic, have introduced the only FDA Approved solution to inadequate eyelashes ~ LATISSE ~ ! LATISSE causes lashes to grow in thicker, darker, and longer.

During your consultation with a Nurse Practitioner or Physician, both the benefits and side effects of using LATISSE will be addressed and a prescription will be issued, provided you are a candidate for LATISSE.

How LATISSE works exactly is unknown, but it is believed to prolong the active growth phase (anagen phase) of your lashes. The majority of patients will begin to see a subtle difference in lashes at 8 weeks, a noticeable difference at 12 weeks and often a dramatic difference at 16 weeks. If you stop using LATISSE your lashes will gradually return to their previous appearance over the course of several weeks to several months.

Directions:

LATISSE is applied once every night on a clean face, free of makeup, and contacts removed (if applicable), using the applicators supplied with your bottle of LATISSE. These special applicators are designed to properly apply the LATISSE and are sterile and disposable, reducing the potential for contamination and infection. LATISSE is applied to the upper lids ONLY, and excess solution should be blotted away to prevent hair growth occurrence outside the upper eyelid area. LATISSE should not be applied to the lower lid, as while the eye is closed during sleep the LATISSE will transfer small amounts from the upper lid to the lower lid.

Not everyone is a candidate for LATISSE so it's important to tell your provider if you have risk factors for glaucoma, have been diagnosed or are taking medication for eye pressure problems, or may be allergic to one of LATISSE's ingredients.

It is also important to contact your physician if you have developed any new eye conditions or reactions while using LATISSE so that your physician may safely assess whether or not you should discontinue use of LATISSE. Possible side effects of LATISSE include: eye itching, irritation, dryness, redness, and skin darkening of the eyelids. There is also a chance of increase in brown iris pigmentation for patients with blue, gray, green, (etc) eyes, which is likely to be permanent.
