I am a twenty-nine year old male and I have an extremely pointed chin.

Question:

I am a twenty-nine year old male and I have an extremely pointed chin. I think it is the correct length for the shape of my face, but I am interested in getting it reshaped, rounded out some or possibly made a bit more square. Can you do this type of mentoplasty using fat transfer?

Answer:

My answer is based on eight years of fat transfer experience with thousands of patients.  To preface my answer to this question based with a tremendous amount of experience using essentially the same technique, I do think the most important aspect of a fat transfer is technique.   Having said that, it is possible that reshaping of the chin could be improved using a fat transfer, however, you may not necessarily be a good candidate depending on your anatomy.

Fat transfer is very reliable in the central T-Zone of the face but for the purposes of recontouring the chin, the results are somewhat less predictable.  Fat transfer does work well on the lower eyes, mid-face, perinasal and perioral area, but to correct a deformity is somewhat less predictable.  I hope this answers your question but certainly a more accurate answer would be achieved with a personal consultation.
