I have been looking at my nose in profile a lot recently.

Question:

I have been looking at my nose in profile a lot recently. I don’t like it. There is nothing specific, no hump, no big moles, no huge nostrils. But it is unremarkable and I don’t like it. Can I just get a completely different nose with rhinoplasty? During my consultation, can I see my face with different types of noses on it?

Answer:

The short answer to your question is ‘no’. Rhinoplasty is really a procedure that is all about altering the shape of the nose based on an individual’s face. Typically there are things that stand out on a nose that make it esthetically less pleasing. For example, some patients have a large bump, some patients have a bulbous or droopy tip, and other patients simply have large nostrils. Most of the time many small changes during a Rhinoplasty can leave a patient with a very pleasing nose. Our goal is not to create a beautiful nose but in contrast leave a patient with a nose that blends with their face. Posted by Dr. Williams
