What is dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA) and what is its purpose?

Question:

What is dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA) and what is its purpose?

Answer:

DHEA is another one of the hormones that we commonly measure and replace. It does decline with age like the other hormones. It is made in the adrenal glands primarily and therefore can be related to stress and fatigue. When DHEA is particularly high, I like to call this the “road rage” hormone where you are feeling very frustrated, stressed and angry. When DHEA is very low, it tends to create a feeling of fatigue.
