Is Liposuction Invasive?

Schedule a Consultation

Question:

I have seen several liposuction procedures on TV and they look extremely invasive. I would like to get one done but from the images I have seen I am very scared. Could you please tell me about the invasiveness of the procedure?

Answer:

Liposuction itself is one of the least invasive procedures in plastic surgery because the technique involves making a very small incision through which a cannula or a tube is passed that sucks out the fat in very thin layers. If performed by a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon, the procedure is extremely safe and again is one of the most commonly performed procedures in plastic surgery and one of the procedures that has the least amount of complications. At the time of your consultation, Dr. Polynice will be happy to go over all of these with you in detail.
