Dr. Williams was quoted in an article “A New Outlook” in the Schenectady Daily Gazette on August 17, 2004, on the improvement plastic surgery can effect on physical as well as psychological scars.

I can tell you, there is no question that facial scarring, or any deformity for that matter, can affect not just how you feel about yourself, but also how you perform”, said Edwin F. Williams III of the Williams Center for Facial Plastic Surgery Center on Troy-Schenectady Road in Latham.  ” It can be devastating.”  In all cases, Dr. Williams said patients need to remain realistic with regard to the outcome.  “My goal is a 40 [ percent] to 60 percent improvement.  If you start out being very honest with people about what can be achieved, they are usually thrilled with that kind of improvement,” he said.  Dr. Williams added: ” Success is when a patient comes back and says, ‘I know [my scar is there], but I don’t think about it any longer.’ That’s as good as I can hope for,” he said.
