My eyes look old; they have circles underneath and sagging from under my eyebrows

Question:

My eyes look old; they have circles underneath and sagging from under my eyebrows. I would like blepharoplasty to remove the bags and drooping skin. How long does this procedure take? How long does the bruising usually last?

Answer:

Blepharoplasty is either done on the lower eyelids, upper eyelids or both. The lower eyelids show the greatest improvement and this procedure takes a little bit longer. Lower eyelid blepharoplasty takes approximately 45 minutes to perform while upper eyelid blepharoplasty takes approximately 30 minutes. This procedure is done as an outpatient at our facility. We tell patients that bruising typically lasts from three-seven days depending on the individual. We now perform fat transfer with lipo-transfer on most patients which contributes a little bit to the bruising but the overall results are much better when we incorporate this procedure.
