What are some potential risks or side effects of BHRT

What are some potential risks or side effects associated with bioidentical hormone replacement therapy (BHRT)?

What makes bioidentical hormone replacement so much safer than synthetic hormone replacement is that the hormones are chemically identical to the hormones in the human body. Therefore, they can be metabolized properly and eliminated properly from the body. Bioidentical hormone replacement is also carefully monitored with salivary hormone testing, capillary blood spot testing or urine testing to safely monitor levels and keep them within the optimal range. The main risk associated with hormone replacement of any kind is in a patient that personally has breast cancer. You do not want to give such a patient additional estrogen or progesterone as this may cause a preexisting tumor to grow however it does not cause cancer in someone who does not already have it.
