  • How Do Patients Determine the Size of the Breasts They Want?

    Determining the size that patients want their breasts to be is often a very difficult decision for breast augmentation patients.

    Patients can help determine this by looking at photographs of women’s breasts to find what is most desirable.

    Another great idea is to buy a variety of bras in different sizes and then try them out with padding, to see which size you prefer.

  • Where Is the Breast Augmentation Procedure Performed?

    Breast augmentation may be performed in a surgeon’s office-based facility, an outpatient surgical center, or a hospital.

    If your procedure is in a surgery center, be sure to confirm that it is accredited by a nationally or state recognized accrediting agency. This will make sure that the facility meets safety standards.

  • What Sort of Anesthesia Is Used for Breast Augmentation?

    The actual breast augmentation surgery typically takes between one and two hours to complete.

  • What Is the Recovery Like with Breast Augmentation?

    Some discomfort is common after breast augmentation, and it’s generally recommended that patients take prescription pain medication to help control this.

    Bruising and swelling is also common, and the swelling will fade within three to five weeks.

    The breasts will appear unusually high during the first few weeks, but they will eventually settle into place.

    Bandages are typically worn during the first two to three days and are then replaced with a sports bra or support bra for the next four weeks.

    Push-up and underwire bras should not be worn during recovery.

    The stitches are usually removed in about seven to 10 days.

    Breast massages are often recommended daily to reduce soreness and help with the healing process.

  • Is Breast Augmentation Covered by Insurance?

    Procedures performed solely for cosmetic purposed are typically not covered by insurance.
