Brighten and Refresh Your Eyes

The eyes are often the first feature to show signs of aging. Loose skin, drooping lids, and puffy under-eyes can make you appear older or more tired than you feel. A blepharoplasty in Scranton, PA, also known as eyelid surgery, addresses these concerns by removing or repositioning excess skin and fat, restoring a smoother, more youthful eye contour.

Patients from Scranton and surrounding areas travel to The Williams Center in Latham, NY, for Dr. Edwin Williams’ expertise in facial rejuvenation.

Types of Eyelid Surgery

Blepharoplasty can be performed on the upper eyelids, the lower eyelids, or both, depending on your goals.

  • Upper Blepharoplasty
Corrects droopy or hooded lids by removing excess skin and fat. In some cases, it may even improve vision if sagging skin obstructs the eyes.
  • Lower Blepharoplasty
Reduces puffiness and under-eye bags by repositioning or removing fat. Incisions are often placed discreetly inside the eyelid, minimizing visible scars.

Some patients choose a combined approach for the most complete rejuvenation of the eye area.

Am I a Good Candidate?

You may be a strong candidate for eyelid surgery near Scranton if you:

  • Have sagging, droopy, or hooded upper lids
  • Experience puffiness or under-eye bags
  • Feel your eyes make you look older or fatigued
  • Are in good health, do not smoke, and have realistic expectations

Blepharoplasty is not only cosmetic; in cases where sagging eyelids affect vision, it may be considered medically necessary.

Benefits of Eyelid Surgery

Blepharoplasty offers patients several advantages:

  • A refreshed, alert appearance
  • Smoother upper eyelids and tighter lower lids
  • Potential improvement in peripheral vision (for functional cases)
  • Long-lasting results that can restore confidence

Recovery and Healing Process

Recovery varies depending on whether the upper, lower, or both eyelids are treated.

  • Most patients return home the same day.
  • Bruising and swelling peak within the first week, then gradually improve.
  • Upper eyelid surgery often has a 1–2 week recovery window.
  • Lower eyelid procedures may take a little longer, 2–3 weeks for most visible swelling to resolve.

Following your surgeon’s aftercare instructions — including avoiding strenuous activity and protecting the eye area — will help ensure the best results.
