Male Buttocks Lifts – Why the Increase?

Schedule a Consultation

Once the undisputed domain of women, sporting a nice-looking derrièreisn’t just about women any longer, thanks to the wonders of the Buttocks Lift.

This has been a noticeable trend and cultural shift among men between the ages of 18 and 65, who are finding answers to the sagging buttocks and diminished glutes through the power of plastic surgery.

The American Society of Plastic Surgeons reported there were 10,000 butt augmentation procedures performed in 2013, up 1,500, or 16 percent, from the previous year. While the precise number of men having the procedure is unclear, there is plenty of professional anecdotal evidence to show thatmen are having butt lifts.

Why the Increase?

Given the increasing affordability and popularity of plastic surgery, more men are having all types of procedures, including face lifts, nose jobs, and breast augmentation procedures.

Some may deem it unmanly, but there is nothing emasculating about it. In fact, many surgeons say the procedure, when done correctly with the goal of preserving masculinity, is really a benefit to male patients. The procedure — whether employing artificial implants or strategic fat injections, otherwise known as a Brazilian Butt Lift — is designed to complement, contour, and conform to male body lines and dimensions. The key factor is in finding the right board-certified doctor who has experience doing buttocks lifts on men.

What’s the Difference Between a Male and Female Buttocks Lift?

Despite certain anatomical differences that exist between men and women, a person’s sex has no bearing on whether he or she is a good candidate for cosmetic fat transfer injections in the buttocks area. It depends on whether the patient has donor fat in sufficient quantity. Given the American diet these days, most people do have an abundance of extra donor fat concentrated in the belly, waist, and thigh regions.

Aside from the need for plentiful donor fat, a successful butt lift also depends on how the fat is harvested, prepared, and injected into the recipient site. The surgeon therefore must be experienced, highly skillful, and have a thorough understanding of the differences between the male and female buttocks.

In general, a man’s buttocks are more muscular and the hips are narrower. Women have wider hips and there is a softer transitioning from the buttocks region to the small curvature of the back. Care, therefore, must be taken in male buttocks lift procedures to avoid results that appear feminizing, as in the case of overly round buttocks or wide buttocks.

The procedure itself may involve augmentation by means of a silicone implant, liposuction with fat harvesting and injections, or a combination of procedures. There is a minimal complication rate and minimal downtime. Patients, however, should be in good health andshould not smoke or abuse drugs or alcohol.

Round Is Good — But Not Too Round

Men who choose to have the butt lift procedure do so to get rid of a naturally flat, sagging, or poorly defined and underdeveloped buttocks. Or, they just want rounder, tighter buttocks that have lost their volume, tone, and definition due to age.

To be sure, the aesthetic goals of the male butt lift are as different as the shape of each man’s backside. Talk to a board-certified plastic surgeon to learn more about the male butt lift and how it can improve your body’s overall shape and appearance.
